植物比较功能基因组学与生物信息学，包括：
1）竹子开花相关基因的功能基因组学：竹子开花的独特之处使得其开花机理对于研究植物开花以及调控具有重要意义。研究组利用资源优势，结合新一代测序技术和基因芯片技术，通过转录组测序和基因表达谱分析，从基因组水平探讨竹子开花相关基因的表达模式及相关信号通路，了解竹子开花的独特机理。
2）禾本科主要农作物和竹子的比较基因组学:竹亚科植物作为与禾本科农作物有重要亲缘关系的种类，是禾本科中唯一多年生、木质化、多分枝的类群，基于现有基因组序列，利用生物信息学方法，开展该类群的比较基因组学研究，探索phenotype的genotype基础以及主要基因家族的功能分化。

我国竹亚科重要类群的系统学和生物地理学研究，2008年度云南省自然科学一等奖（第二完成人）
